What strikes your mind, when you come across this title?? Definitely, it has to be something related to FACEBOOK, as 'LIKE' is a word that we now associate with this larger than life social networking site.
You want an i phone, hit the LIKE button. * Only limited numbers available *, said the post.
And like any other greedy human being , i too hit the LIKE, to try my luck.
" One stupid, good for nothing LIKE to earn a brand new i phone !!! I could do this all day", i said to myself,
I was really optimistic about my chances and all geared up to see my name written in BOLD letters among the list of winners; when i happened to come across a small line on my computer screen, just below the post.
It said you and 35000 other morons liked this post.
BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reality struck me like lightning and i was back in my senses.
Fooling people is the new trend, and i call Facebook the Fooling-booth. Everything in this virtual world is meant to fool you. Be it posts, or photos, or whatever. You never know the hidden agendas behind these.
Like for example, You see this post which says, 'The end of the World is near !! ' , and out of sheer curiosity you click on the post, to read its contents. Fooled #1.
Now when you see the post, its nothing but imaginary stories of people and their fake theories gift wrapped in a realistic manner, so that you are convinced to the core that the world is ending tomorrow, precisely by 3.35 pm. Fooled #2
Along with this you also see, advertisements of many products around the textual matter of this post. What are these irrelevant ads doing in this post??
The answer is simple, you wasted your time reading some worthless article, and also helped the post get a hit, which then gets converted into money. For every hit, that a post gets , the advertiser pays money to the guy who posted it, or to the website which has published it. So, irrespective of the authenticity or the relevancy of the content, the only thing that actually matters are the hits !! Fooled #3
Fine, lets just say that there are people who earn out of this, but the issue that i wish to highlight is that, social networking sites are unreal and hence should not be taken too seriously. People have to be aware of everything happening in and around them and should know the difference between real and fake ..
As someone rightly said,"The first step towards change is awareness. The second step is acceptance." So accept the awareness and move forward !!
